AcetoBase is a first dedicated repository and curated database for the analysis of acetogenic bacteria
based on the key functional gene formyltetrahydrofolate synthetase (FTHFS/fhs) of Wood-Ljungdahl Pathway for Acetogenesis.
The database contains ~30,000 bacterial protein accessions, ~30,000 bacterial nucleotide accessions and ~3,100 bacterial clone accessions.
Approximately 6,000 taxonomic identifiers contains whole genomic
meta-data information.
Although, formyltetrahydrofolate synthetase (FTHFS/fhs) is a marker enzyme/gene for Wood-Ljungdahl Pathway,
in addition to acetogens, it is also present in other bacteria such as syntrophic bacteria or sulfate reducers.
Thus, different organisms which possess FTHFS gene
are also present in AcetoBase.
The FTHFS sequence generated by next-generation nucleotide sequencing, clone library sequences by sanger sequencing or protein sequencing can be submitted and accession numbers can be obtained
Searching for the query with organism name or AcetoBase or public accession number for FTHFS sequences
